Company Announces New AI-Focused Website
SAN DIEGO, California – May 31, 2024
AirHop Communications (www.airhopai.com) today announced a new AI/ML-powered rApp and a strategic re-branding, strengthening its position as the leading provider of AI-driven Open RAN apps for 5G networks.
“Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) is playing an increasingly crucial role in 5G network automation and optimization,” said Anand Parikh, AirHop Communications’ CEO. “This is particularly true in the Radio Access Networks (RAN) which accounts for the majority of cost, complexity and energy consumption in the mobile network. AirHop is committed to helping Communication Service Providers (CSPs) worldwide deploy and manage highly-efficient open and sustainable networks through the use of AI-driven software applications. Today we are announcing our latest AI-powered rApp as well as a new website and strategic re-branding as AirHopAI.com.”
The Auptim Remote Electrical antenna Tilt Optimization (RET) rApp is Airhop’s latest AI/ML-powered App for 4G and 5G Open-RAN networks. The App uses both cell and user equipment (UE) based performance measurements to dynamically coordinate electrical antenna tilt for coverage and capacity optimization under changing network conditions. The new App also provides continuous performance monitoring to prevent service degradation and improve throughput over fixed tilt solutions.
AirHop provides a broad portfolio of commercially-proven O-RAN standards-compliant xApps and rApps that integrate with RAN Intelligent Controllers (RICs) and Service Management & Orchestration platforms (SMOs) from leading vendors. These AI-powered Apps use data about network conditions and user behavior to optimize resources, reduce operating costs, lower energy consumption and improve end user quality of user experience. AI/ML uses predictive analytics models to optimize resources and connection management, reduce idle time, optimize traffic resource utilization and detect anomalies.
“The RIC element in the open RAN architecture opens a wealth of new opportunities for mobile operators to optimize their networks using AI-based applications, and the remote electrical tilt rApp is another advance in RAN automation,” noted Joe Hoffman, Principal Analyst for Omdia.” Omdia’s latest study of the RIC market found that AirHop has maintained its position as the RIC app provider that has been integrated with the most RIC platforms.”
